Filling Mayor’s Chief of Staff delayed in Chillicothe Council

Aside from public response to the KKK flyers found in Chillicothe on March 17th, another concern was expressed in Chillicothe Council on March 25th.

Chillicothe Council member Kathy Payne had her proposed ordinance tabled before its second reading, and scheduled a review session to allow more discussion on it. It would authorize $70,000 through the end of the year to fill the vacant position of Mayor’s Chief of Staff.

The job has been unfilled since the city was under financial duress about 10 years ago. Former council member Nancy Ames asked why the job is being financed now after the budget has been set.

Human Resources chair Kathy Payne said the mayor would like to have it filled, and that the Chief of Staff position is allowed for in city ordinances.

Payne said filling the post is not controversial, but there are many opinions about it. So, she set up a review session at 6:15pm on April 10th in council chambers.

Hear her in her own words in the video interview in the article on the Scioto Post.
