Panthers earn 59-42 victory against Federal Hocking in Boys Hoops

The Southeastern Panthers had three players in double figures as they defeated Federal Hocking, 59-42, at the Zane Trace Tip-Off Classic on Friday. Seniors Carter Fisher led the Panthers with 17 points, followed by Joey Pfieffer with 11, and Lane Williams with 10. Sophomore Brayden Burns added 8 points to help the cause.

"With us, scoring is going to come from who knows every game. It's going to be somebody different," said Southeastern Coach Bryan Alley. "Tonight, Joey (Pfieffer) had a nice game. He came off the bench and shot really well for us."

Southeastern shot 34% from the field (20 of 58), 27% from three-point range (4 of 15), and 83% from the free-throw line (15 of 18). Federal Hocking, meanwhile, shot 43% from the field (15 of 35), 45% from beyond the arc (5 of 11), and 43% from the free-throw line (6 of 14).

The Panthers dominated the boards, pulling down 17 offensive rebounds after collecting 23 in their previous game.

"We're small, but the hustle's there," Coach Alley said. "They're on the floor, and I've always told them that comes from the heart. No athleticism has to be involved. It comes from the heart and guts, and I've got every kid that has that."

Federal Hocking was led in scoring by juniors Cameron Joy with 14 points, Mosiah Cottrill with 12, and Noah Blake with 7.

Southeastern (2-0) will host Piketon on Tuesday.
