Unioto Shuts Down Logan Elm Shooting Threat In District Semi Win

Logan Elm's outside shooting threat was neutralized by Unioto's defense in a 51-36 Division 2 District Semi win Thursday.

The host Braves' three-point threat was shut down 0/15 from the arc as they also only shot 12/36 from the field for 36%. In the meantime, Unioto was 19/40 from the field- including 1/8 from the arc for 48% for the game.

The Shermans' size played a major factor in shutting down the Braves shooting threat all over the floor, while that same height also paid dividends for Unioto's inside game. The Tanks won the rebounding battle 27-17.

Unioto committed 11 turnovers while Logan Elm had 12. On the charity stripe, Unioto was 12/19 while Logan Elm was 12/15.

The Shermans were led by DeSean Branson as the "super-sub" once again came off the bench to lead them in scoring with 16 points, including a steal and break-away dunk that helped stave-off a Braves scoring run, which saw LE cut a double-digit deficit to 25-23 in the third quarter. By the end of the period, Unioto was up 33-23 and never saw that lead drop below 10 the rest of the game.

Unioto's Isaac Little added 14 points, Tayvion Galloway had 8 points and 8 rebounds, while Cameron Debord scored 5, and Cater Markko and Evan Park each had 4. Park also grabbed 6 rebounds.

Logan Elm was led by Isaac Ward's 15 points, Gabe Chalfin had 12 and Jason Sailor and Braylen Baker each scored 4.

Unioto improved to (16-5) and faces Gallia Academy for the D-2 district championship Saturday, at a site to be determined Friday morning. 94 Country WKKJ will broadcast that game with airtime at 6:45pm.

Logan Elm closes their season at (16-2).
