The upcoming new Ross County Commissioner has been studying hard for his new job, and I asked him about it after he sat in on their last session of the year, December 30th, 2024.
David Glass has served as the chair of the Ross County Republican Party since 2021, but announced his resignation effective on January 14th, saying he wants to focus on being one of the three leaders of the county, a father of four youngsters. He told me that his chairmanship helped inform him about the wishes of the voters of Ross County.
Since winning over Democrat Mark Hirsch with 65% of the votes, Glass says he has been attending each commissioners meeting, and has been greatly informed by observing their budget process towards the end of the year.
He admitted that this is his first public office he has been elected to, though he pointed out that he was appointed to and served on the Ross County Board of Elections. He continues to maintain a campaign website and Facebook page. He also has a sizable list of jobs in economic development, and volunteer efforts on community and and church nonprofits.
Glass fills the office of Dwight Garrett (R), who chose to not run in the fall election and retire from the office after eight years. James “Oody” Lowe (R) won re-election as commissioner; Jack Everson (R) won election last year.
