Columbus -- The COVID-19 death toll in Ohio has risen by more than two-dozen fatalities.
Health officials say a total of 1,872 people have died from coronavirus statewide. The number of confirmed and probable cases has risen to 30,794, while more than 5,300people are currently hospitalized.
Governor Mike DeWine and Health Director Dr. Amy Acton didn't hold their usually briefing Friday, but will return Tuesday after the long holiday weekend.
Governor DeWine has ordered that all flags in Ohio be lowered to half-staff for Memorial Day, and in honor the victims of COVID-19.
Flags statewide are also lowered to remember Annie Glenn, widow of late astronaut John Glenn, who died this week from coronavirus.
