Ross Health District Board Eliminates Health Administrator Post

The Ross County Board of Health has eliminated the position of health administrator Ben Avery in favor of having a full-time health commissioner. The board voted 4-3 in favor of the resolution earlier this week, that would terminate Avery's position as the Ross County Health District Administrator, effective June 6th.

The second resolution was to set up an agreement with the administrator to be worked out.

The health commissioner position requires a graduate degree in the health field, unlike the administrator position. When the levy failed, the qualifications became less stringent to ensure the health district remained operational.

Dr. Christopher Brown is currently the health commissioner, but also serves as a physician at Adena Health System.
