Pickaway Traffic Stop Leads to Major Drug Find/Arrests

Pickaway County Sheriff Robert B. Radcliff reports that two people were arrested after a traffic stop led to a major drug arrest, Monday (February 10th), at approximately 11:15pm. Deputy Ryan Howard initiated a traffic stop on an SUV on U.S. Route 23 in the area of Little Walnut for a traffic violation.

Deputy Howard initially made contact with the driver, 32-year-old Danielle D. Lorah of Columbus, Ohio. Deputy Howard then spoke with the passenger, 41-year-old Carl F. G. Newland, also of Columbus. Lorah did not have a valid driver’s license and Newland had outstanding warrants for his arrest.

Upon search of the vehicle, deputies located over 126 grams of heroin, over 32 grams of methamphetamine, 10 colnazepam pills, scales and 2 smoking pipes.

Both Newland and Lorah were taken to the Pickaway County Jail and were charged with Trafficking in Drugs (Heroin) a Felony of the First Degree, Possession of Drugs (Heroin) a Felony of the First Degree, Trafficking in Drugs Schedule I and II (Methamphetamine) a Felony of the Second Degree and Possession of Schedule I and II Drugs (Methamphetamine) a Felony of the Second Degree.

The case remains under investigation by the Pickaway County Sheriff’s Office and the US 23 Major Crimes Task Force.
