Ross Sheriff Seeing Increase in Juvenile & Elderly "Runaway" Reports

Reports of frequent juvenile and even elderly runaways are becoming more common in Ross County.

Sheriff George Lavender says a juvenile "runaway", is not the same as an abduction, which leads to an Amber Alert being issued by the State of Ohio Department of Safety. Being a juvenile runaway can lead to unruly charges against the youth.

When it comes to senior citizens who wander off due to dementia or other mental illness, Adult Protective Services typically gets involved to put out alerts seeking help in finding them.
