Female Victim Suffers Gunshot Wound While Driving on SR 104 in Chillicothe

Ross County authorities are investigating a shooting that took place late Monday morning along Chillicothe’s South Bridge Street.

According to the Ross County Sheriff’s Office, the unidentified female victim had been driving along South Bridge/SR 104, just south of Cooks Hill Road around 10:40 a.m. when she suffered a single gunshot wound while inside her vehicle.

The shot fired is reported to have come from a passing vehicle. Sheriff George Lavender reports the suspect to be a younger black male driving a dark-colored 4-door compact.

The Sheriff's Office uploaded the picture below, believed to be the suspect vehicle to social media, Monday afternoon. It is the vehicle closest to the camera.

Tips indicate the female victim to be a local attorney, practicing with the Municipal Court. She was taken to Adena Regional Medical Center and then transported to a Columbus hospital. There's no word on her condition at this time.
