Metzler Hangs-Up Football Coaching Whistle at Unioto

.

It has been rumored since the end of the regular season, but Unioto football coach Jeff Metzler made it official Friday, saying he is stepping down as the Shermans' head coach.

.

While leading the Unioto football program the past five years, Metzler took the Shermans' to their first-ever post-season playoff games, doing so three straight seasons between 2016-2018. Under his leadership, Unioto was (34-19) overall and (24-11) within the SVC, finishing runner-up in each of those three seasons (2016-2018).

.

Metzler served as defensive coordinator at both Chillicothe and Unioto, prior to becoming the Shermans' head coach in 2015.

,.

In a press release statement, Metzler says; “Coaching is a full-time job. I have been coaching for 31 years and feel it’s time to hand the reins to the next generation of coaches. I am looking forward to spending more time with family and friends. In closing I would like to thank the Unioto community for the support of not only me, but of our program. I hope they will continue their support in the future. Go Tanks.”
