Chillicothe Civic Theatre takes on a classic novel as they open their new theatre this weekend.

"The Crucible" will be produced this Thursday through Sunday, with shows at 7pm Thursday through Saturday nights and 3pm on Sunday.

Director Sue Osborn says CCT's new home is at 83 South Walnut Street in Chillicothe.

Osborn says the award winning play was written by Arthur Miller in 1953 at the peak of the McCarthy Era congressional hearings on entertainers being accused of being communists.
