Multiple Injuries in Route 104 Crash in Pike County

A three vehicle injury crash occurred on State Route 104 in Pike County, Wednesday afternoon.

The Ohio State Highway Patrol says at approximately 4:46pm, a Ford F-250, driven by Thomas Taylor of Lucasville, and a Chevrolet Equinox, driven by Samantha Sylvester of Waverly, were traveling southbound in an active construction zone.

A Ford F-150, driven by A. James Rumfield, was traveling northbound and failed to yield to the stop sign, striking both Mr. Taylor’s vehicle and Ms. Sylvester’s vehicle before overturning in the roadway. Ms. Sylvester’s vehicle traveled off the left side of the roadway and struck a guardrail.

Ms. Sylvester and passengers Preston Johnson, and two juveniles- all of Waverly, were transported to Adena-Pike Medical Center in non-life-threatening condition. Mr. Taylor and Mr. Rumfield were not injured. Pike County EMS, Pee Pee Township Fire Department and Portsmouth Ambulance assisted on scene.

Impairment is suspected to be a factor in the crash.
