Chillicothe Downtown Ghost Walk Set for Saturday, September 21st

Chillicothe’s annual Ghost Walk will be taking place this coming weekend. Participants this year will visit three stops in the city’s downtown area from tours offered in years past, as well as the debut of two new haunted locations.

Stops from years prior are the Temple of the Eastern Star on West Main Street, the Elks Lodge along West Second Street, and the Phoenix Fire Company Museum located at East Second Street. The two new additions to the Ghost Walk this year are the Chillicothe Antique Emporium on East Main Street and the Focal Point Salon on East Second.

"Patrons can attend any of the locations in whatever order they want," said Gene Betts of the Chillicothe-Ross Convention and Visitors Bureau. "When they get there, they'll get checked in and then storytellers at each location will share some history of the building, and all the paranormal experiences and findings that our paranormal investigators have found during each of their visits to the locations."

The walking tours will take place this Saturday, September 21st from 11:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m., but walkers are encouraged to show up early for the last tour as the tour stops will be closing down for the night at 6:00 p.m.

"6:00 p.m. is when the venues close," said Gene. "So we encourage everybody to come out a little earlier just to make sure they can make through each location with plenty of time."

It’s $10.00 per person to participate. Tickets are available online at www.chillicothehalloweenfestival.com, or by calling the Chillicothe-Ross Convention and Visitors Bureau at 740-702-7677. Tickets will also be available on Saturday in front of the Majestic Theater while the tours are taking place.

"The weather looks great for Saturday," said Gene. "It'll be a perfect day to take these tours, do some window-shopping and eat downtown."

Proceeds raised from the annual Ghost Walk help fund the activities that take place during the Chillicothe Halloween Festival, which in turn helps to fund area non-profits, and takes place October 11th through October 13th in Yoctangee Park.
