McArthur Woman Sent to Columbus Hospital After Crash with Lumber Loader

A 70-year-old McArthur woman was flown to a Columbus hospital as the result of a two-vehicle collision in Vinton County, Monday.

According to the Jackson Post of the Ohio State Highway Patrol, Gary L. Jones, 57, of Piketon, was operating a 2006 Volvo loader in the area of Crownover Lumber Company along Fairview Avenue in the City of McArthur, when he failed to yield right-of-way to oncoming traffic while attempting to cross to roadway. He was subsequently struck by a 2014 Nissan SUV, operated by Linda M. Peoples, 70, of McArthur.

Mrs. Peoples sustained incapacitating injuries as a result of the crash and was air-lifted by Med-Flight to Ohio State University Medical Center. Mr. Jones reported no injuries at the scene.
