Zahn's Corner Students to Spend Next Year Elsewhere, Testing to Continue

Students at a middle school in Pike County will begin next school year elsewhere while an independent third-party tests the building for radioactive contaminants.

The Columbus Dispatch reports that the Scioto Valley Local School District made the announcement concerning Zahn's Corner Middle School on Friday. Superintendent Todd Burkitt wrote, “This decision is being made now in order for staff and administration to have some time to work out the logistics and plan schedules."

The district closed Zahn's Corner Middle School on May 13, after both the Department of Energy and other researchers detected radioactive contaminants both inside and outside the school.
