Adena Local Schools Receive Safety Grant Funding Through Ohio BWC

The Adena Local School District is among eight Ohio school districts and two private schools to share nearly $243,000 to enhance their safety and security under an expanded safety grant program launched last year by the Ohio Bureau of Workers' Compensation.

“We want to improve workplace safety across Ohio, and that’s especially important in workplaces that house and educate our children, the future of this state,” said BWC Administrator/CEO Stephanie B. McCloud.

The grants are the first awarded out of $4 million the BWC has slated for PK-12 safety upgrades for fiscal years 2019 and 2020. BWC announced the funding last year as a component of its $1.5 billion rebate program.

Adena Local Schools will receive $39,974 to purchase 44 security cameras and a panic alarm system with 54 pull stations.

The other districts to receive grant funds from the BWC are located in Cuyahoga, Jefferson, Morrow, Putnam, Richland, Shelby, Seneca and Wayne counties.
