Adena Outlasts PV to Remain Unbeaten in SVC

Adena dominated the glass with a 41-29 rebounding advantage in a 67-57 win over Paint Valley, Saturday in Frankfort. The Bearcats were hampered by the loss of scoring and rebounding leader Bryce Newland, who sprained his ankle in the first quarter.


Paint Valley still played tough despite the loss of Newland, staying within 34-29 at half and 48-44 after three quarters, after trailing by double-digits early in the third quarter. The Warriors were able to build that lead back into double digits in pulling away with the 10 point win.  


Adena had four players in double figures, as Zach Fout poured in 20 points and Preston Sykes and Caleb Fogelsong each had double-doubles. Sykes scored 16 points with 10 rebounds, while Fogelsong had 14 points and 10 boards. Jarrett Garrison added 12 points and 7 rebounds.


Paint Valley had three in double figures, led by Caden Grubb's 18 points. Cruz McFadden added 17 and Hunter Hamlin scored 12 points and grabbed 12 rebounds.


The Warriors won despite committing 19 turnovers. PV had 11. Adena shot 25/51 for 49%- including only 1/8 from the arc and 16/26 from the charity stripe.


Paint Valley was 22/46 from the field for 48%- including 3/13 from the arc and 10/16 at the foul line. 


Adena remains tied for the SVC lead with Zane Trace at (4-0/5-1). The Pioneers were 64-54 winners at Southeastern. Paint Valley drops to (2-2/3-3) on the season.
