Chillicothe Council Set for Food trucks, Looks for Snowplow

Monday evening, Chillicothe Council made it easier to replace the city's winter "workhorse" after a false start.

Councilman Aaron Hines explains that Chillicothe's main snowplow has to be retired after the frame and bed were found to be rusted through.

They found a dump truck to buy in Georgia, but it was sold before they had legislation prepared.  Kenworth said they are so backed up that they could not get on built for about a year.

Hines said the city has a couple other plows, but it's crucial to find a replacement truck.

So, council passed legislation to spend up to $200,000 to snatch one up the moment another one is found.

Council finally passed legislation to regulate food trucks.

Beth Neal said it took two years and a lot of discussion to reach this point.  She thanks everyone who helped, especially the food truck operators themselves.

Council member Lana Fairchild was the single no vote, saying the ordinance is too extensive, redundant, and the police might not be able to enforce it properly.

But it was passed, and is now immediately in effect.

Neal says she's looking forward to more food trucks...and recommends going to the mayor's office if want to start up.

The next budget hearing will be Monday, not Wednesday, as previously announced.  And, the next council session will be Thursday the 27th, to avoid Christmas.
