Ross County Humane Society will be participating in the nationwide Clear the Shelter Day tomorrow (Saturday) by hosting a “Pick Your Price” event. Each adopter will be able to choose their own price for each dog, above the $10.00 fee for 2018 Ross County dog tags.
Shelter Director Jenn Thomas says that the past few months have been very slow for adoptions at the local shelter. “More dogs come in every day and we are doing our best to keep up with the number of incoming dogs. We work closely with rescues and are always looking for fosters for our dogs to open more kennel space. Every dog that is in a foster home opens a kennel for another dog.”
While adoptions will be a pick your own price, adopters are still required to be approved for adoption by filling out an adoption application, either online at the shelter website or in person at the shelter. “It’s best to go ahead and fill out the application as soon as possible for those wanting to take home a dog on Saturday. We don’t do same day adoptions to ensure that the dogs leaving our shelter are going to good homes and to make sure landlords are OK with renters having pets.” according to Thomas.
