One of Two Sunday Ross County Crashes Turns Fatal


The Ohio State Highway Patrol reports two traffic accidents from Sunday morning, with one involving a fatality.


The fatal crash occurred on Lower Twin Road at 10:35am when a Harley-Davidson Softail driven by 43-year-old Ray L. Hess of South Salem went off the right side of the roadway, struck a fence, struck a tree, and overturned.  Mr. Hess and his passenger, 50-year-old Lynette Hess were both ejected from the motorcycle.  

Mr. Hess was flown to Grant Medical Center by Medflight with non-life threatening injuries.  Mrs. Hess was transported to Adena Regional Medical Center by Twin Twp EMS where she was later pronounced deceased.  Helmets were not worn by both occupants. 



An earlier one vehicle injury crash occurred on Storms Road at approximately 7:45am. 

A car driven by 40-year-old Gary Kifer Jr. of Chillicothe, was traveling eastbound on when it lost control, ran off the left side of the roadway and struck a tree. 

Kifer Jr. was transported to Grant Medical Center by Medflight for non-life threatening injuries.
