Chillicothe Keeps Safety Forces Levy Commitment for More Personnel

A few years ago, Chillicothe voters supported a Safety Forces Levy, designed to hire additional police and fire personnel. Mayor Luke Feeney says the city has done just what they said they would. The mayor says 20 safety force personnel have been hired since that time in the police and fire departments, which is an increase in spite of retirements.

Feeney says he will be coming to council with requests by Police Chief Keith Washburn to hire additional dispatchers, along with additional officers.

Police officers and firefighters no longer serve as dispatchers, in order to keep more safety forces on the streets.
