Unioto Alone at Top of SVC

Unioto ran their SVC record winning streak to 58 straight and are (3-0) in the conference following their win at Piketon, Friday night. That coupled with a Paint Valley 59-55 win over Southeastern, leaves the Shermans alone in first place.

Unioto blistered the nets in every quarter, but the second quarter, shooting 25/46 for 54% for the game. They shot 71% in the opening period, 27% in the second, 60% in the third and 55% in the fourth. They also were 4/17 from the arc and 8/15 at the foul line.

The Redstreaks shot a chilly 31% for the game, going 18/52. They were 3/13 from the arc and 13/20 from the line.

Despite grabbing 12 offensive rebounds, Piketon was out-rebounded for the game 30-28. The Shermans committed 13 turnovers and Piketon 12.

The Shermans had three players in double figures, led by Brandon Kennedy's 20 points. Peyton Hill had a double-double of 16 points/11 rebounds and Gabe Fisher added 13 points. Logan Swackhammer scored 8 points and dished-out 12 assists.

Piketon was led by Tanner Perdue's 22 points, all but 6 in the second half.

Unioto now leads the SVC pack at 3-0, Piketon, Zane Trace, Southeastern and Westfall are 2-1, Paint Valley is 1-2 and Adena and Huntington are 0-3.

Saturday is "Super Saturday" in the SVC, with every level of high school girls and boys basketball games all playing the same day.
