The Chillicothe Veterans Affairs Medical Center is teaming with the community for an education opportunity to the areas homeless.
VA Homeless Program Coordinator Amy Combs says the VA and the community have to work together, the VA relies on the services the community has to offer and the veterans want to be part of the community. They have partnered with Ross County Continuum of Care.
The Stand Down to end homelessness event will be September 26th from noon-7pm at Yoctangee Park, and is open to the general public seeking help with homelessness.
Counties represented at the event include, Athens, Fairfield, Fayette and Pickaway.
Combs adds that they are hoping to not only offer services and resources for people that are dealing with poverty or are currently homeless, but hope to make this an outreach event.
