Ross County Treasurer Jerry Byers is asking taxpayers to check the mail for their second-half real estate tax statements. The treasurer’s office completed the mailing of the statements this week.

Taxpayers are asked to contact the treasurer’s office if they have changed their mailing address or if they don’t receive their bill. Real estate tax payments are due by Friday, July 11th. Taxpayers who receive a separate manufactured home statement should expect to receive their bill by the end of this month. Manufactured home tax payments are due July 31st.

Most taxpayers make their tax payments twice a year, but monthly payments continue to grow in popularity. The treasurer’s monthly budget plan is designed to help taxpayers set the money aside for their taxes before the taxes are due.

Ohio law requires that property taxes be billed twice a year; however, many people find that smaller monthly payments are a better fit for their household budget,” said Byers.

The treasurer’s “Monthly Budget Plan” allows a taxpayer to pay the semi-annual taxes in monthly installments. Payments toward next year’s taxes begin in August after all taxes due on the property for this year are paid. Information on how to sign up for the budget plan is included with the tax bill and is available on the treasurer’s Web site.

The treasurer’s office is open from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday, except holidays. The office will also remain open until 6:00 p.m. the final week of the real estate tax collection, which ends July 11th. The treasurer’s office is located in the Ross County Courthouse.
