Cole Maxson, a sixth-grade student at Bishop Flaget school, will be representing the state of Ohio in the national "God, Flag, and Country" speech competition this summer.

Maxson, the son of Jon and Amber Maxson, placed first in the 12-13 age category at the state competition on May 3rd in Columbus.  His speech, "Courage in the Face of Fear," earned him a $300 cash award, a  $2000 educational grant, and a $750 travel voucher for the national competition, which will be held in Orlando in July.

Cassidy Corcoran, a freshman at Zane Trace, placed 2nd in the 14-15 year old category.  She received $200.

Cole and Cassidy were sponsored locally by Fraternal Order of Eagles Aerie 600.

A quilt raffle is being held to aid Cole and his family with travel expenses.  Tickets are available in the school office for $5 each.
