Ohio is celebrating Agriculture Week through Friday, and Dale Minyo, with the Ohio Ag Net, encourages everyone to thank a farmer during this time.

"They've endured mother nature; they've endured market prices," he said. "Hog farmers are currently enduring one of their biggest challenges, and that's the PED virus that kills baby pigs."

Minyo added that farmers work hard for what they earn: "Farmers still get about 12 cents out of every dollar; the rest of it's going to marketing, promotion, processing, (and) advertising."

According to Minyo, cattle producers are anticipated to have a good year, while soy and wheat producers are waiting to see what kind of weather is in store for the coming weeks to project their success.
