As Memorial Day steadily approaches, we here at 24/7 Comedy aim to not only transmit hilarity to wherever your active ears may be (hopefully they’re on your head) but also strive to get involved with as many causes as possible. One of these causes is supporting our honorable troops, which is why back in February we set out to Las Vegas for Ron White’s Vegas Salute to the Troops.
The Blue Collar Comedy Tour alum and two-time Grammy Nominated artist brilliantly put together a night that was filled with laughter and excitement. He also had a host of other comedians that helped elevate the laughter to new levels. The hilarious personalities that joined White this year were Brian Regan, Ralphie May, Josh Blue, Kathleen Madigan, and John Caparulo. And each comedian was gracious enough to allow us to interview him or her. So for the next week we’ll be playing bits of comedy from all of the comedians as well as the interviews they gave as. To make your mark as a true comedy fan, you can click on the comedian’s names above to view their personal websites where you could follow them on Twitter and support them on Facebook.
But let’s get back to the cause. White has always been a loyal supporter of the Armed Forces Foundation, which is where all the donations went towards that night. The Armed Forces Foundation is an American non-profit organization that supports all branches of the United States Armed Forces, both active and retired members. You can click on their name above, which will link you to their website where any amount of donated money is well accepted. Also, if you are a person who is still afraid of the Internet, then follow these instructions to text a donation:
Text AFF to 50555 to give $10 to the Armed Forces Foundation. Reply with YES to confirm your donation.
Comedians like Ron White and the ones that accompanied him on stage in Vegas give comedy a more dynamic structure by participating in these types of special events. Not only are they making people laugh, but they also understand they wouldn’t be able to do so if it weren’t for our Armed Forces. It’s the dedication of these soldiers that comedians as well as us at 24/7 Comedy admire so greatly that events such as White’s Vegas Salute to the Troops take place and are promoted.
These soldiers do what they do for the same reasons why comedians do their jobs—for strangers; for people they have never met before. And Memorial Day is how we honor these soldiers that have a boundless commitment for their country. So donate for people that you have never met before and for the immense sacrifices they make for past through future generations.
